Welcome to the Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club, a 100% NMRA club!
The Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club is centered in Southeastern Michigan and was founded in 1969 by a group of like-minded guys. Because our club is recognized by the NMRA as a 100% NMRA Club, all members must belong to the NMRA and maintain an NMRA membership. Monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month in member’s homes where we share knowledge about trains – both model and prototype, hold modeling clinics and we even run trains – guests are always welcome. As a round robin club we need to maintain a manageable size which allows for a maximum of 10 senior members, 25 regular members and 10 junior members.
The Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club regularly undertakes a variety of projects such as hosting train festivals, helping members build their layouts and taking rail fan trips. We have an enthusiastic “Monday night building sessions” where members rotate around other member’s homes to help build or upgrade their layouts. No job is too big or too small and these are a great way to learn the tips and techniques for your own scale pike.
For the last few Christmas seasons we have set-up our club modular layout at the Rochester Hills Van Hoosen Museum and have run trains during the museum opening hours – much to the delight of the kids and their parents.
